Saturday, April 12, 2025 – Tromsø (Norway)
Today’s sprint race in Tromsø marked the final showdown of the 2024/25 ISMF World Cup season. We now know the final standings of the Sprint discipline World Cup season!
The women’s race saw the continuation of an extraordinary winning streak by Emily Harrop, while the men’s final delivered unexpected drama after a penalty reshuffled the podium — impacting Spain’s Oriol Cardona Coll.
WOMEN’S RACE SUMMARY
In the women’s race, the French team was strongly represented in the final, with four athletes on the start line: Léna Bonnel, Emily Harrop, Célia Perillat-Pessey, and Margot Ravinel. They were joined by two other top contenders: Marianne Fatton for Switzerland and Ana Alonso Rodriguez for Spain.
Yet once again, Emily Harrop (FRA) proved untouchable. She led the final from the very start, powering to victory and completing a perfect sprint series — winning every sprint race of the 2024/25 World Cup season.

WOMEN’S PODIUM & FINAL TIMES
🥇 Emily Harrop (FRA) – 3:07.1
🥈 Marianne Fatton (SUI) – 3:15.8 (+8.7)
🥉 Margot Ravinel (FRA) – 3:16.4 (+9.3)
After her win, Emily Harrop shared her thoughts on the moment:
“It’s pretty crazy — I’m so proud and happy with the season. Staying on top throughout all the races isn’t something you can take for granted; it requires focus every time. Finishing here in Norway makes it even more special — it’s a place everyone holds close to their heart. And with the weather today, we were really lucky. It’s such a pleasure to end the season like this.”
MEN’S RACE SUMMARY
The athletes qualified in the final were: Thibault Anselmet (FRA), Thomas Bussard (SUI), Oriol Cardona Coll (ESP), Maximilien Drion (BEL), Jon Kistler (SUI), and Ot Ferrer (ESP).
After an extremely fast start from Oriol Cardona Coll, followed closely by Thibault Anselmet and Maximilien Drion, we’ve assisted to a brilliant comeback from the two Swiss.
Oriol Cardona Coll managed to arrive first on the finish line but a 10-second penalty — for having his skis outside the transition area before taking his poles — moved him down to fourth place. Behind, Thomas Bussard managed to pull ahead with a powerful final climb and a flawless transition, launching into the downhill just ahead of Jon Kistler.
Following Oriol Cardona’s penalty, the victory was awarded to Thomas Bussard (SUI), marking his first-ever individual World Cup win. Fellow Swiss and U23 athlete Jon Kistler took second place, while Maximilien Drion (BEL) completed the podium in third — a strong finish to his season.

MEN’S PODIUM & FINAL TIMES
🥇 Thomas Bussard (SUI) – 2:46.0
🥈 Jon Kistler (SUI) – 2:48.6 (+2.6)
🥉 Maximilien Drion (BEL) – 2.53.4 (+7.4)
After the race, Thomas Bussard shared his surprise and emotion:
“I was not expecting this victory — to be honest, I was already so happy with second place. My last sprint podium was back in 2022 in Val Thorens, so I’ve been waiting a long time to come back. I’m a bit speechless… just being second at the finish was incredible, and five minutes later I learned I had won. I’m sorry for Oriol, who got the penalty — but a win is a win, so I’ll take it.”
RACE TRACK
Tromsø sprint course featured a total of 70 m of elevation gain: 45 m on the initial skinning section, followed by a 15 m foot segment, and a final 10 m climb on skis before launching into the downhill.
